Job Description
Overview / Responsibilities Wood is recruiting for a Senior Construction Engineer with a background in transport, lifting and logistics to be based in the Home Office in Reading. The candidate will be part of the Construction Engineering Team and will report directly into the Construction Engineering Manager supporting Project Construction Managers and will be responsible to manage and maintain mutually beneficial working relationships with Contractor, Client, and subordinates. This role is suitable for a Heavy Lift and logistics Engineer who is looking to further develop their career further. Willingness to undertake business trips is a necessary part of the role and Wood are looking for candidates who can support the varied workload and provide flexibility to support projects. Responsibilities will include; * Prepare detailed conceptual lifting and transportation studies using CAD and experience working with lift planning packages e.g. Crane Manager * Prepare and review detailed rigging arrangements * Review Engineering lifting and transport attachments * Carry out detailed review of Lifting Contractor's Method statements, schedules and activities * Assist with constructability reviews. Carry out Construction feasibility and method studies * Provide Construction input into Construction Contractors Requisitions * Participate in Technical Evaluation of Contractors tender responses * Provide technical support to projects for the development of strategies for modularisation, pre - assembly, pre - dressing and the assessment of module yard and vendor capabilities * Provide technical support to projects for the development of strategies for shutdown and turnaround operations * Develop strategies for placing specialist contracts to carry out lifting, transportation, and barging operations * Liaise with shipping group to develop strategies and provide technical support for shipping of major equipment from vendor locations to site. Liaise and co - ordinate shipping activities with Marine Warranty Surveyor * Provide technical support for procurement / engineering groups at vendor sites to ensure that major equipment is handled safely * Provide support to the Construction home office in developing Temporary Facilities * Oversee lifting and transportation operations on site when required * Provide support to field staff in all aspects of lifting, transport and shipping * Arrange and co - ordinate route surveys by specialist lifting contractors * Act as an ambassador in all issues relating to HSES * Maintain an awareness of changes in legislation with respect to continued company compliance * Co - operate with the HO Construction co - ordinators / managers to carry out construction feasibility and method studies, provide constructability services and other construction engineering services, ensuring that all construction engineering work is conducted to correct standards and procedures * Keep abreast of current construction technologies and industry practices and recommend incorporation into project execution strategies where appropriate * Participate and maintain contact with Corporate, outside industry committees, and other professional bodies Skills / Qualifications * Engineering degree preferred * Experience in downstream oil and gas EPC and FEED's * Major Client experience e.g. Aramco / AOC, SABIC, ADNOC, DUQM, Ineos, Shell, Exxon Mobil, * Hands on experience of planning construction logistics and execution including heavy lift, plot layout, access and temporary facilities * Ability to communicate well and prepare detailed studies Company Overview Wood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
