Job Description

The firm is looking for a 2 year PQE litigation solicitor qualified in England & Wales to join their team of 11 international lawyers. The firm has been involved in several ground breaking matters over the last few years for their international clients, the most well-known being the Public International Law case of Bank Mellat v HM Treasury twice featured in The Lawyers' annual list of the Top 20 International Cases being litigated in the UK. The growing team wants to develop their junior level capability as many of the lawyers that have been with the firm for a while are at the stage where they wish to increase their BD and/or management activities. The firm took on an NQ in January 2019 and two paralegals toward the latter half of last year. The candidate will mostly be working as part of teams on a mix of Litigation and Commercial Arbitration work. A team usually consists of a Junior Solicitor, Senior Solicitor and supervising Partner. The legal team has both paralegal and secretarial support however the firm's lawyers, as in the case of many small firms, are quite self-reliant. There is a good work-life balance and the team are quite social. There are opportunities for travel abroad on both client matters and for BD activities. The candidate will: * Have practical experience of High Court litigation, knowledge of the CPR and experience of drafting court applications and E-filing; * Have practical experience of working with Counsel and dealing with Counsel's clerks and fee notes; * Have practical experience of running a day to day of a small case with minimal supervision; * Be able to prepare first drafts of inter party correspondence and pleadings; * Be able to research and keep the team up to date on developments in the law relevant to the case; * Have an International background/ foreign language skill and first-hand experience of dealing with international clients. * Have good academics - 2.1 or higher * Be an enthusiastic, team player who is self-motivated and well organised.
