Job Description

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire. Our flagship specialist cancer hospital opening in central Liverpool in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site. Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service; are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region's Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust). Working with leading experts from The University of Liverpool and the Cancer Research UK Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit we strive to stay at the forefront of novel treatments and techniques to deliver more effective and personalised treatments than ever before. The Research and Innovation Department at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has an exciting post available for application. The post offered is for a Band 7 Advanced Research Practitioner. The Primary aim of this post is to bring about greater access for research in order to provide a unique and enviable framework to enhance delivery of world class research. The post holder will act as an Advanced autonomous Research Practitioner,supporting patients on commercial, non commercial and Experimental Cancer Medicine with in a clinical trial, demonstrating a high level of practice and knowledge, working as a key member of the multi- disciplinary team providing professional and clinical support in the care of patients on clinical trials. The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will provide expert care and treatment to patients within agreed trials protocol and clinical guidelines. Functions in a variety of role dimensions: health care provider, educator, superviosr to junior staff, researcher, auditor, clinical advocate and implementer of research and clinical governance. The post holder is employed and managed by Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, but will be required to travel across a number of NHS trusts within Merseyside and Cheshire. Regular travel will be expected between CCC Wirral, Liverpool and Aintree sites. Employees must be aware of, and accept the requirement to work at other sites across the Clinical Network within reason. Any changes will be subject to consultation with the post holder.
