Job Description
Specialist Clinical Psychologist - CAMHS-LD We are excited to be able to recruit a suitably qualified Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to the Haringey Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Learning Disability team (CAMHS-LD). The successful applicant will undertake direct clinical work in the CAMHS learning disability team. They will contribute to the multi-disciplinary team providing specialist assessment, therapy, consultation, training and supervision as appropriate. The CAMHS LD team provides specialist mental health services for children with disabilities and their families. The team is based at St Ann's Hospital. The team consists of Clinical Psychologists, a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Learning Disability Nurses. The team work closely with colleagues from the disabled children's social care team, the specialist schools and colleges, the Child Development Centre and the Haringey adult LD partnership (HLDP). The team is co-located with other CAMHS teams and can access the wider range of disciplines represented in this service, e.g. child and adolescent psychotherapy, specialist SLT, art therapy, and systemic family therapy. Haringey CAMHS-LD team was set up in 2007 to provide specialist assessment and consultation to clients with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities and their families and carers. In recent years this team has been expanded to increase the capacity of the service allowing for exciting new developments. In line with the Transforming Care agenda these developments are focussed on providing more intense support to those most at risk of restrictive practice. Our practitioners have undergone PBS training as part of a borough wide initiative to increase access to this approach. Other therapies now available to our client group include NVR, MBT-C and VIG. It is hoped that the successful applicant will broaden the offer further and we are committed in supporting them to do so. Haringey CAMHS teams are part of the CYP-IAPT project funded by NHS England which aims to improve quality and effectiveness of services through the routine use of clinical outcome measures and the development of service-user involvement projects. The service is in the process of adopting the principles of the Thrive model incorporating initiatives to increase resilience and early intervention in schools and the community through the Trailblazer project. It is benefitting from the interest and investment brought by this initiative as well as that of the Transforming Care agenda. The London Borough of Haringey covers Tottenham, Wood Green, Hornsey, Crouch End, Muswell Hill and Highgate is situated between the inner city areas of Hackney and Islington to the south and more suburban areas of Enfield and Barnet to the north and west. The western part of the Trust is relatively affluent, the eastern part being more typical of an inner city area. The population of approximately 220,000 is the most ethnically and culturally diverse in England and Wales with 44% of the borough's residents coming from a black or ethnic minority background. Haringey is currently experiencing a period of rapid change and regeneration. This has been stimulated by both national and local regeneration projects and initiatives.
