What is the opportunity? The Commodity Operations group under RBC Capital Markets is looking to hire a Trade Support Analyst to join its London Office. The role will be focused on Base Metals Logistics Management. This role will provide comprehensive trade support coverage to the Commodities trading desk for Base Metals in London. The incumbent will be responsible for managing all logistics related to the physical financing metal inventory including the vetting of new material and warehouses as well as ongoing monitoring to mitigate operational risk. The successful incumbent will ensure the efficient and accurate daily processing of Base Metals Commodities OTC and Exchange Traded derivatives and physical trades on Openlink systems. What will you do? * Perform trade validation for Commodities derivatives and physical trades booked into the Openlink. Analyze the downstream impact of new deals, amendments, cancellations and actively communicate issues to relevant stakeholders. * For trade capture errors, monitor results & exceptions, analyze underlying causes and ensure appropriate, corrective action are taken to reduce the frequency of occurrence and minimize loss due to error. * Liaise with FO and all cross functional teams as Commodity Operations' primary contact for all queries and issues and effectively monitor, track, and escalate any potential risks in a timely manner. * Work closely with Futures/Clearing teams to identify and resolve trade breaks on a daily basis. * Work closely with Technology to mitigate and close gaps in application functionality; suggesting enhancements to obviate the need for manual intervention/processing, resulting in more accurate and time-saving workflows. * Management and organization of all documentation relating to the physical metal and transportation. * Management of metals inventory, rent, daily accruals for profit and loss purposes and insurance expenses through internal/external systems * Maintain Inventory Management details in support of Physical Commodity transactions. Reconcile inventory between internal systems and the relevant storage facilities. * Perform due diligence checks relating to documentation (Bills of Lading / COAs / COOs ) associated with Physical Commodity transactions referring any queries back to the client/warehousing company/shipping line. * Maintain effective communications and develop effective mechanisms for resolving conflicts amongst the various internal and external stakeholders. * Ensure accurate regulatory reporting (SFTR, LME, etc.) * Establish and maintain strong commercial contacts with trading counterparts and trade support service providers. What do you need to succeed? Must-have * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (BBA / BComm / BMath / BSc) * Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Vlookup, basic VBA knowledge) * Strong focus on control issues, processes, and procedures through the use of technical and analytical skills * Able to suggest & implement innovative ideas to complement & develop new processes as they evolve with the business * Team-oriented approach - openness and good communication skills within the team and the ability to work across functions inside and outside of Operations * Self-motivated to manage projects and seek opportunities to enhance the business benefit * Relationship Management and ability to liaison with business people at all levels * Strong understanding of risk concepts and risk management practices Nice-to-have * Experience in Openlink systems * Knowledge of the LME market structure and physical commodities space * Intermediate to advanced knowledge of VBA and SQL * Relevant operations/logistics experience What's in it for you?
