Job Title: Commercial Officer Location: Todmorden, Lancashire, OL14 5RT Company Background Weir Minerals Europe is part of the Weir Group PLC, the business has been established for over 125 years and is a world leader in the design and manufacture of pumps, valves, cyclones, vibrating screen machines, crushers and other associated equipment for the mining and minerals processing industries. The company has seen significant sustained revenue growth with output rising from 31million to circa 130million within the last 6 years. Based in the North West of England we are a well-established company that is growing year on year. Our organisation currently has 800 employees throughout Europe with over 400 based in Todmorden, which sits on the edge of both Lancashire and West Yorkshire. The Role We are currently looking for a dynamic Commercial Officer to join the Commercial team reporting to the Commercial Contracts Manager The post holder will be responsible for the day to day commercial operations and applying effective commercial governance in accordance with the Weir Groups commercial framework. Providing general support to the Commercial Contracts Manager and supporting the management and approval of commercial bids to strict requirements and timelines. Essential to the role is experience in numerous forms of commercial agreements and the capability to review customer terms and conditions and support customer contract negotiations, to enable the effective control of contractual terms and conditions across all European territories protecting Weir Minerals Europe from unacceptable risk. Key responsibilities will include the following to ensure: + Several years of general commercial operations experience. + Ensure Weir Standard terms and Conditions are applied wherever possible + Negotiation of customer's terms and conditions to manage the commercial risk and comply with the commercial policies of the group + Extended Warranties are accepted by Engineering and have an effective termination date + Support the application of bank guarantees, performance bonds and letters of Credit with finance and project management and have effective termination dates. + Ensure that all commercials bids comply with the required cash flow and profit margins + Provide Commercial and Legal guidance to other functions within the business + Support the drafting and review a range of commercial agreements to support new business development activities + Ensure that the company is protected from any unnecessary commercial risks + To coordinate the bid review process by liaising with other functions within the business to ensure there is a clear understanding of the scope of supply, accurate estimation of costs, achievable lead times, review of the terms and conditions. + Provide support to the project management team as part of the Contract Acceptance process to ensure that the negotiated contracts are acceptable and are in accordance with the position cleared during bid review + To manage and enhance the contract review procedure liaising with sales, contracts, engineering, manufacturing, finance, project management and legal departments. + Supporting the monitoring of the profitability of significant contracts from bid approval through to delivery. + Provide commercial support and effective communications at all levels to the other teams and sales offices across Europe. + Provide support in producing management information as required. The Person + Should have strong understanding of business and commercial contract law + Effective communication skills applicable for operating in the international arena + Strong motivational skills + Clear understanding of the selling process for technically based capital goods + Be able to take responsibility, be innovative, adaptable and work individually and as part of a team and have well developed interpersonal skills + Ability to work under pressure and achieve tight deadlines + Positive attitude and approach + Awareness and knowledge of SAP + Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programmes (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) Experience and Qualifications + The candidate should have minimum of 5 years relevant experience + Good understanding of contract law, reviewing and negotiating T&C's for a range of agreements + Previously operated in the Engineering/Manufacturing industrial sector supporting or managing a sales team would be advantageous + Experience of coordinating and preparing major tender proposals and presenting this at board level + Experience of negotiating contract terms and conditions with customer's in an international environment + Ideally qualified to Degree level, commercial, business or legal Degree would be desirable or other suitable commercial qualifications + Detailed understanding of contract law Benefits + Competitive salary + 25 days holiday plus 8 days bank holiday + Employee Reward Scheme + Flexible working hours + Free parking + Pension Scheme ID: 2019-21586 Shift Schedu
