Job Description
Reporting to the Finance Manager- Operations, Weir Minerals Europe is seeking to appoint a finance professional to the role of Assistant Management Accountant (Operations). The role has a strong bias on supporting the operations and commercial management teams in ensuring that the business delivers profitable growth in line with its strategic initiatives. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential as is having a continuous improvement outlook and being motivated to work on their own initiative. Objectives: + Preparing and analyzing operational results; working closely with supply chain teams to identify and address underlying issues + Providing financial support to the supply chain teams in Monthl P&L reviews + Some involvement in product costing + Responsibility for the Sales & Logistics Budget from a Financial perspective + Supporting the sales team in pricing decisions e.g. identifying variable cost + Supporting the business areas to prepare capex investment appraisals + Support working capital improvement initiatives + Month end and forecast responsibilities as assigned + Ensure compliance with the Weir Group policies and the Weir Group Code of conduct + Other ad-hoc duties as assigned This is a wide-ranging role that affords the successful applicant an opportunity to transition from more recognised accountant positions to becoming a true business partner. Accordingly, drive and analytical ability are key qualities being sought. Education and/or Experience: Part Qualified (studying towards) accountancy qualification, CA, ACCA or CIMA. Ideally some experience in a manufacturing or a similar operations-based business. Computer Skills: Integrated ERP system- preferably SAP. Highly competent in using MS Office suite, particularly MS Excel. Language Skills: Written and English speaking Mathematical: Ability to calculate figures and amounts Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written/oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardised situations. Analytical: Understands and able to break down complex or diverse information; gathers and processes data to identify problems, draw conclusions and propose solutions; able to consider different options and alternatives and make appropriate recommendations; works well with others to advise, resolve problems and implement solutions.
