Job Description

It's often overwhelming for the people we support to make changes in their lives. You can help by donating your time as a volunteer mentor. To build a goal focused relationship with a service user; aiming to support them to achieve measurable rehabilitation goals on release from prison. Examples of rehabilitation goals could include: secure entitled benefit claims; secure appropriate housing provision; engage in education, employment or training; substance misuse abstinence and improved emotional and physical wellbeing. To motivate the service user to achieve their potential in any identified area or areas that need improvement. To influence the development of specific skill sets to support them to achieve identified goals. To influence the client's development as a person and their approach to other aspects of their life Coach clients to use strategies to choose positive friendship groups that will support their rehabilitation goals Signpost clients to community resources that will assist behaviour and lifestyle changes. Our volunteers are given an opportunity to gain valuable experience, build on skills to support their own learning, give back to their community and gain an understanding of the barriers and stigma associated with offenders and ex-offenders. Change Grow Live offer all our volunteers training, ongoing support and supervision as well as working as part of a team with other mentors; volunteers will also work closely with other professionals across the service.
