Job Description

Role Purpose We are seeking a Commercial Engineering Manager to lead a team of Commercial Engineers in pulling together budgetary cost/proposals and firm price proposals in support of opportunities identified by the European Sales Team. The successful candidate should be at ease in the consulting engineering sector as they will be providing costs to customers either specific technical specifications or for total engineering solutions, which will require obtaining internal costs for the selected equipment in addition to estimating and co-ordinating third party costs for supporting work which may also be required such as civils, ground works, electrical installation, conveyors, installation and commissioning etc. Overall Objectives /Key Results Areas + Managing the Commercial Engineers Team, providing support for: a) Workload within the team against KPIs. b) Completing yearly appraisals and objectives setting, in addition to mentoring and coaching the team. + Co-ordinate all activities and reports for MEAs (Major Enquiry Alerts), Interco Enquiries and any other relevant activities, supporting the Commercial Engineers to adhere to SOPs, (Standard Operating Procedures), or acting as the role model, to ensure a quick turnaround of the proposed solution, utilising existing equipment prices and estimating metrics for civil, groundwork, steel structure and installation as required + Review existing/revised flow sheets and assist in the preparation of the scope of work and costing requirements for the identified solutions + Organising Handling internal & external customer enquiries for Weir Minerals products including pumps, process equipment (Sand Plants), crushers, valves and rubber products. Entering them into the company CRM system, for follow up tasks and meeting Service response targets. + Liaison with third party partners/subcontractors/material providers to allow the preparation of budgetary and firm price proposals + Preparation of customer tenders based on identified solutions and ensure clearance in accordance with the companies commercial practises + Coordinate Projects and identify the impact they have on the team and their workload in advance using a proactive approach. + Coordinate/Manage business initiatives as required Experience & Skills + Experience in understanding RFQs (Request for Quotes), Technical Scopes, Material Requisitions, etc.. + Experience in estimating and quantity surveying working on projects from pre-tender to project delivery + Experience in detailing and understanding process flow sheets, equipment lists and plant solutions + Determination to succeed and influence the outcome (ownership) + Strong sense for identifying ways of adding value along the way (innovation) + Strong commitment to our business strategic direction + Customer focused approach + Negotiation, cost management and effective communication skills. + A good understanding of the Estimating process + Minimum of 5 years estimating experience + Extracting cost information from SAP Person Specification & Qualifications + Effective consulting and communication skills applicable for operating in the international arena + Strong motivational skills, have good leadership aptitude with well-developed interpersonal skills + Innovative and Adaptable.
