Your new role In this exciting new role as an IT Infrastructure Analyst you will be working on a new programme being led by the Maintenance Technology Systems team. You'll play a key role in efficiently and effectively maintaining, developing, troubleshooting, enterprise level IT systems. Critically you will support the transition of the existing technology solution from supplier to an in-house and then reviewing the architecture to assess gaps in architecture and solutions. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables: * Perform in-depth business and technical analysis and design of the new solution in order to produce the Strategy going forwards. This will involve evaluating the Engineering and Service & Maintenance requirements. * Responsible for knowledge transfer from the existing supplier and transitioning existing infrastructure estate to a potential cloud based solution * Responsible for designing new technical infrastructure architecture and producing design documents * Monitor, diagnose and resolve problems with key IT systems to ensure systems work efficiently. * Manage crisis situations and work under pressure to resolve problems * Installing and managing network nodes. * Writing/Reviewing of detailed Technical documents regarding the Network Design and Network Configuration. * Writing/Reviewing network and system diagrams. * Perform routine/scheduled check of the system, including all backups. * Bash scripting, AWK, Perl, Python * Root cause analysis of problems affecting the platform About you * Previous experience in designing IT infrastructure solution for a large organisation, preferably within rail industry(rolling stock) * Experience in investigating and reporting faults at network, operating system and application level. * Understanding and configuration of a LAN/WAN/VPN network infrastructure and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, MAC, 802.11 x, SNMP, UDP, XMPP, SSH, VNC, X11, HTTP/S, NTP, FTP.) * Experience in setting up and administering a virtualized environment such as VMWare and Docker * Depth of experience in configuration management tools such as Puppet and Ansible * Installing, configuring and managing of: * Network (intranet, both wired and wireless) devices like Routers, Switch, Servers, APN, etc. * Cisco Experience (working with Firewalls, configuring VPNs, Layer-3 devices, IDS, Reverse Proxy) * Operating Systems (Linux CentOS/Ubuntu and Windows) * Enterprise HW (Racks, UPS, Blade Server, Fiber Channels, SAN). * Virtualization Middleware like VMware, oVirt. * Common Linux/Unix applications and services like DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NFS, AutoFS, Kerberos, PAM, PXE. * Backup tools and policies configurations * SAN systems * Network Monitoring Tools (like Nagios, etc.) * Experience in working in large cross boarder projects with CI and DEV-OPS methodology * Willing to travel in the UK, Europe and overseas Desirable Requirements * Experience and knowledge of train to shore systems and communications, preferable knowledge of train systems and architecture * A minimum of a degree in Information Security, Computer Science or Computing, or equivalent certifications and experience
