5 billion people, two-thirds of the worlds population, do not have access to safe and affordable surgical care. As a result, millions go untreated every year causing unnecessary suffering, permanent debilitation, or death. This is all caused by a shortage of surgeons, varying quality of care, rising costs of training surgeons, lack of funding and lack of accessibility to quality surgery. Digital Surgery has created a digital data-driven ecosystem that uses cutting-edge technologies like AI, augmented reality and computer vision to modernise surgical training, orchestrate surgical teams in the operating room (OR) and deliver safer surgery around the world. We are looking for a Simulation Artist to come and join our Studio team. As a simulation artist you will be part of our Studio team producing high quality visualisations and simulations, contributing through animation, modeling, compositing, and other CG specialisms. Heres what youll do (not all of it, just the important stuff!): * Production of CG simulations using animation, modeling and compositing for use in client paid surgical simulations * You will work closely with our medical liaison team and anatomists in the production process * Working with designers and developers to further improve the user journey through the simulations. * You will liaise with our authors and clients, including world leading surgeons, to receive and iterate on feedback within the production process. Requirements * Commercial experience in 3D animation, or a good degree and showreel * Skilled in animation / modelling / compositing * Expert use of Maya * Self-motivation * Great communication, organisation and attention to detail * Team-player Additional qualities that would be useful for this role include: * Programming/scripting, especially for 3D applications (python, C++, C#) * Experience of other 3D/2D applications (Mari, Nuke, ZBrush, Adobe Premiere) * Unity experience * Strong organic modelling skills * Traditional art skills * Video editing & photography skills * A thorough understanding of animation pipelines and the processes involved from the conceptual phase to implementation * A proven ability to meet deadlines in a professional environment * An interest in the mechanics of human anatomy, and medicine as a whole * Experience/interest in gaming and interactive applications and/or design * Experience/interest in digital education * Experience/interest in medicine and/or medical animation Benefits Were in a really lucky position to operate like a small team, with all of the benefits of a big company.
