GUY'S AND ST. THOMAS' HOSPITAL NHS FOUNDATION TRUST Simulation and Interactive Learning Surgical Simulation Fellow Nodal Point - 4 - 49,036 p.a excl. LZ Full Time - 40 hours per week Fixed Term - 12 months Applications are invited for the post of Surgical Simulation Fellow. This exciting role offers an opportunity for Post Foundation and Surgical Trainees (Core Trainees/Specialty Registrars/Clinical Fellows) to develop their experience and skills as medical educators, develop and deliver surgical training courses and undertake supervised educational research. The successful applicant will be supported by a team experienced in simulation training and supervised by the Surgical Simulation Lead. There is the option for the post holder to have a clinical commitment but it will be important to keep this to a minimum to ensure that time in simulation is not diluted. The Fellowship consists of an Out of Programme Experience for a period of 12 months attached to the Simulation and Interactive Learning (SaIL) Centre within Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. There is the option of extending the post for an extra 12 months which will be dependent on satisfactory completion of objectives during the job. This post will be supported by an educational supervisor with significant funding provided towards a relevant course. There is an expectation the post holder will participate in studies with a view to publications in a peer reviewed publication and a poster or oral presentation at regional, national or international meetings. Support and training will also be given to help the post-holder develop key management skills which are important for a future Consultant role. St Thomas' has a central London location with stunning views across the Thames to the Houses of Parliament, is next to the London Eye and the arts complex of the South Bank. There is easy access to major transport links. The Trust has a number of centrally located subsidised accommodation options. The post holder may participate in a trainee rota dependent on their specialty and provided this does not interfere with their role as simulation fellow.
