Head of Software Engineering We are currently working with a successful tech start up business who are looking to appoint a Head of Engineering to open a new Northern office. Currently with a successful London operations, they are looking to reflect this success in the North and grow a team of Engineers. The Head of Engineering will be integral to this growth. The Head of Engineering will be experienced in leading teams but equally comfortable being hands on should this be required. You'll help raise the bar for development practices and build a world-class team with a brilliant engineering culture. This is an opportunity to really help shape the technical direction of a growing and exciting tech business. The engineering team are language-agnostic, as the company are focused on finding amazing software engineers who want to build something exciting. In the first 12 months you will: Convert group-level objectives into key results for your team. Ensure the team can work efficiently and deliver value early. Grow your team by hiring engineers which raise the bar for our organisation. Provide ongoing feedback on your team members technical & leadership performance. Provide structured performance reviews to identify high and low performers. Own the design and development of non-trivial features. Develop a deep understanding of multiple parts of our stack as well as the processes and technologies relevant to our consumer tech space. Help raise the bar for our team by contributing to best practices, automation, documentation, and hiring. Ensures the teams write well-tested software that has few regressions Support operational excellence and make measurable improvements to our support processes.
