Overview

We are looking for a Co-ordinator (Substance Misuse) to develop our housing related support to people with substance misuse issues. You will be based in the Supported Lettings Team. The team provides resettlement support to people who have been rehoused following a period of homelessness. Our mission is to support people to succeed in their new tenancies. We currently provide "generic" support, to people with a wide range of needs, who are willing to engage with support and able to sustain a tenancy. We want to extend our service to people with support needs related to drug and alcohol misuse. We are looking for a Co-ordinator (Substance Misuse) to take lead responsibility for developing our housing related support to people with support needs related to substance misuse. You will have: Extensive experience of supporting people with substance misuse problems. A good understanding of substance misuse, recovery and harm reduction. A thorough understanding of substance misuse services in Bristol. You will provide direct support to a limited number of service users. You will also provide advice and guidance to Support Workers. You will provide "assisted casework": working alongside the allocated Support Worker to provide specialist guidance. You will contribute to learning, training and skill development across the service. You will deliver, facilitate or organise training for Support Workers. You will take a lead to ensure that we work safely with people who may be a risk to themselves or to others as a result of their substance misuse. You will assess and manage risks, so that we can: take positive risks, help our service users and staff to stay safe, and refer effectively to other services where necessary. You will be an ambassador for the service. You will know services in Bristol and will be proactive in building links with other teams, agencies and organisations, so that we can work in effective partnership to support people with substance misuse problems. You will support colleagues to understand and navigate these services. You will contribute to the development of the service by reporting on the support we provide to people with substance misuse problems, making recommendations and leading on actions.
