Overview
Network Engineer Design Translate business requirements captured in the CLIENT's Data Network Request Form into corporate data network solutions comprising a Bill of Materials (typically Router and Switch hardware bundles) and BT Wide Area Network link(s) as required. Allocate IP Addressing for Wide and Local Area networks and write low level design documents detailing how the Bill of Materials and Services specified in the solution should be integrated into new or existing networks to provide the requested corporate network connectivity. Compile staged work instructions and change text detailing how the network should be installed, including a business impact assessment for each stage and staged back-out plan as required for submission to Route Services IT Change Management team for approval. Write and implement configuration changes associated with Quality of Service. End-to-end Solution Design/Implementation/Troubleshooting between various Route Services IT Managed Service Providers (Oracle, DXC, and Atos, Computacenter) to implement, troubleshoot, and augment Enterprise Network and/or Data Centre Environments - this can incorporate FTNx and Inter-VRF Firewalls - see CDP/FTNx below. Summary. From a DNQ (Data Network Questionnaire) - Produce a BOM (Bill of Materials): eg Logon and interrogate existing Cisco Hardware if DNQ is a request for additional user capacity. EG. Show CDP, etc. Select most suitable BT Product/Circuit and Cisco Hardware from an approved list. Use a bandwidth Calculator spreadsheet to select correct bandwidth and QoS Settings. Produce a Bill of Materials Word Document following an agreed/existing format. Once Bill of Material has been accepted by Customer - Produce a detailed Design. eg Create a Network Diagram to agreed set standard. Create a Design Document (Excel Spreadsheet) to agreed set standard. Spreadsheet will include creating an IP Schema, DHCP Request with IP Phone Options, DNS Details, NAC Details, AP IP Details, Selected Hardware Details, Cisco Router and Switch Port Allocations. IP Details/Address will need to be requested and allocated via Customer (NR). (This is where the Delay is). Produce an implementation Plan: eg Create a step-by-step installation process for the design produced following an agreed format. This document will be issued to the implementation Engineers to follow. Produce a Change Request eg Create a Change Request for the proposed installation following an agreed format.
