You will be an enthusiastic and dynamic therapist, working as part of a team to deliver Occupational Therapy services in accordance with the Codes of Practice of the College of Occupational Therapy. Role - Occupational Therapist Location - Thatcham, Berkshire Salary - £19,500 Hours - 37.5, Full-Time Your responsibilities Support Occupational Therapy staff in the implementation of occupational therapy treatment programmes. Carry out one-to-one interventions as directed by Occupational Therapists. Plan and facilitate group activities / interventions as directed by Occupational Therapists Maintain appropriate levels of purposeful and therapeutic activity Contribute to developing and reviewing aspects of the OT clinical programme, and maintain appropriate levels of purposeful and therapeutic activity in consultation with the Occupational Therapists. Promote, encourage and assist service users to engage and participate in occupation.To be aware of individual service users' needs through communication with Occupational Therapy and Nursing staff. To observe general behaviour, ability and response of service users to activities and communicate these observations to other members of the multidisciplinary team as appropriate. Report relevant aspects of service user's performance, behaviour and treatment outcomes, and any concerns to the Occupational Therapists. Provide oral and written reports about service users as required To be successful in this role, you'll need Experience as an OT assistant within a hospital or care setting or relevant practice in a similar care setting. Understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy Range of practical skills which are relevant to the post (cooking, baking, craft work, art, fitness , sports, drama, education) Ability to work with individuals / groups within a supportive environment. Ability to present information and practical activity to groups and within individual sessions Able to use initiative within area of delegated responsibility. Ability to carry out a range of administration tasks as designated by the Occupational Therapist. Must have adequate literacy and numeracy skills for short reports and completing administration tasks for the department / service. Ability to follow a structured work timetable and tasks as delegated. Where you will be working Location: Thornford Park, Crookham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 8ET You will be working at Thornford Park, a 130 bedded independent hospital which supports service users that require medium and low secure Forensic Mental Health Services. In addition to these services there is also a PICU Mental Health Service. The service provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering people in their recovery and rehabilitation. Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will provide personalised assessment and treatment programmes for males with mental illness/complex care needs as well as those with personality disorder, and females and males in a PICU service.
