Overview
Our Client is seeking a qualified Financial Controller reporting to the Finance Director This role has the responsibility for the financial performance and improvement of 2 smallish creative agencies ( themselves part of a bigger group). Responsibilities encompass partnering with the Agency Managing Director (one MD covering both agencies), budget management, financial control, forecasting, process improvement and management of the Agency finance team (2 people). To support the business in providing insight to be better understand the financial performance and future projections. Financial Controller Key Responsibilities: The principle accountability is to work with the Managing Director and senior agency staff to ensure the Agencies deliver against their financial objectives. Manage the month end and forecasting cycle. Ensure the timetable for delivery is managed, that the balance sheet can be fully supported at all time and that there is analytical insight and a monthly commentary to ensure stakeholders understand the financial performance. Support the Agencies with new business costings and quotes. Ensure Agency resources are being deployed effectively and efficiently. Provide insight and analysis on hours worked and billing performance. Lead the annual budgeting process for Agencies and the quarterly business performance reviews for the Groups Executive team. Coach and improve the financial awareness and understanding of the agency teams. Support the Agencies with any contractual arrangements that are put in place with clients and suppliers, ensure relationships are strong and equitable. Manage Agency debtors, creditors and the overall cash position. Support the Group with any queries or requests in these areas. Lead any ad hoc investigation as directed by the Agency Managing Director or the Company Finance Director. Act as the first point of contact for auditors with respect to any Agency related requests. Financial Controller Key Attributes Required: Excellent inter personal skills, able to build relationship in a creative environment whilst also able to hold people accountable. Analytically strong, ability to interpret data and draw insight and conclusions. Good attention to detail while being able to demonstrate a strategic understanding. Commercially savvy with experience of the financial management and budget processes. The ability to remain objective and independent, bring the truth to the business and potentially delivering difficult messages when required. Problem solving skills. Qualified Accountant. Experience of working in a creative environment or advertising agency. Strong communication and team working abilities. Commercial acumen, awareness of business planning, P&L management and accounting concepts. Strong Excel skills.
