About the role: You will be working as part of the Thermal Hydrolysis team, in a very hands-on role. Previous experience with boilers and energy generation, or sludge handling and digestion processes, will be very advantageous for this role. You will be responsible to the THP Manager and Site Performance Manager for carrying out the operation and front-line maintenance functions on the new sludge treatment process working closely with the Site Process Team to ensure the smooth running and production of compliant sludge cake. You will gather data and operate the plant in order to achieve and maintain this compliance. You will work in a small team and will be required to work on a standby rota to ensure the role is covered 24 hours a day 365 days a year. This is a very hands-on role working at Basingstoke STW on the new Thermal Hydrolysis Sludge Treatment Plant. Key Accountabilities: The operation of power generation plants and equipment, including large steam-producing boilers. Sampling, testing, basic maintenance and fault-finding of the plant and equipment. The monitoring, collating and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance is met. Undertaking safety and security checks and housekeeping, demonstrating site pride and adopting a zero-compromise approach to health and safety. Excellent communication and liaison with the wider site team and those working on the effluent process to ensure the entire site runs seamlessly. Taking part in a 1-week standby roster every 6 weeks to ensure 24/7 cover for the site. Undertaking critical industry training, including the Boiler Operator Accreditation Scheme (BOAS). To be successful you will have the following skills and experience: The successful candidate should have experience in a relevant power generation environment. Knowledge of the process industry plant such as pumps, gearboxes, industrial boilers, dewatering plant, etc… would be an advantage, but more importantly will be your flexibility, initiative, ability, and willingness to train. As well as this, you must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures including Confined Space Entry and Boiler Operation Accreditation (BOAS). You must have basic literacy and numeracy skills as well as the completion of NVQ level 2 units as a minimum (or equivalent). Some computer data input or enquiry experience is desirable. Please note, a full current driving license is essential for this role. This plant will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
