Salary: £1,606 (15 day wave) £2,030 (20 day wave) Daily residential rate: £118.20 Daily non-residential rate: £84.80 Role length: 15 day Wave (programme) consists of 10 days residential; and 5 days non-residential 20 day Wave (programme) consists of 10 days residential; and 10 days non-residential There is potential to work more then 1 wave depending on staff performance and young people numbers. All our waves are weekdays with all weekends off. Locations : North and South East London positions available throughout June to August The Programme 3 learning phrases: Phase 1 Be Epic - The first 5 days (mon-fri) will be based at a residential centre away from home where teams of young people supported by staff will take part in challenging outdoor team building activities. Phase 2 Live Life - The following 5 days (mon-fri) will be based in university-style accommodation where the teams supported by staff will develop life skills through facilitated activities which will be delivered with the support of local partners. Phase 3 Do Good - fuelled by phase 1 and 2 the final 10 days (Mon-Fri)will be non-residential, based within the local community where teams supported by staff will design and deliver a youth-led socialaction project. About the role: Come and work for Twin, a delivery partner of NCS, this summer as a Wave Leader and play an integral role in the organisation and implementation of the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme and the management of a summer staff team; maintain proper levels of young people safety, discipline and welfare. To be a point of contact and support for programme and core staff as well as other outside agencies/stakeholders and the main point of contact between activity and progress on the wave. We are looking for 30 Wave Leaders to work in London and Dorset. The programme involves 10 days working away with, the first 5 days based at an outdoor activity centre, followed by 5 days at a university campus or tented accommodation. Then working locally to plan and deliver a social action project over a 5 or 10 day period depending on the wave. NCS (National Citizen Service) is a government-backed initiative with a mission to equip 15-17 year olds with the confidence, skills and support they need to make a real difference in their communities. The aim is to encourage young people from different backgrounds to mix through a local, community-based programme. Working closely with Centre Co-ordinators and the core staff team at Twin, Wave Leaders act as the 'face’ of NCS. Our leaders oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the programme, taking on responsibility for the safety and well-being of groups of young people, and line-managing a team of summer staff through the NCS programme. Principle accountabilities: Health, safety and well-being of all participants during the course of the programme Successful delivery of the programme/contract Developing and facilitating appropriate participant activity Liaising with all Twin departments as required Person Specification: An eye for detail An influencer and excellent negotiator Excellent organisational skills Ability to deal with a demanding workload and prioritise Ability to work in a highly pressured and fast paced environment Good interpersonal skills with people at all levels Fluent English communications skills - both written and verbal A problem solver who thrives in a challenging environment A flexible attitude to work This partly residential role is perfect for an experienced professional with a background in the education or youth work sector. The role may require long working hours and night shifts during the residential weeks of the programme. You will be working residentially and non-residentially Monday to Friday during all parts of the 3 or 4 week programme with weekends off.
