Overview
Assistant Team Manager We are looking for an experienced Assistant Team Manager to join our Children with Disabilities Team in Wokingham. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing quality services to children with disabilities and their families, delivered within a signs of safety practice framework, to support life skills development, increase independence, promote family resilience and keep children safe from harm. As an Assistant Team Manager in the Children with Disabilities Team, you will supervise four Social Workers holding caseloads of children with disabilities spanning the range of statutory provisions, including Children in Need, children subject to Child Protection Plans, Children in Care and those where Care Proceedings have been initiated. Through effective supervision you will support the team to deliver quality social work assessments that appropriately identify risk and need; through robust management oversight you will ensure that they work collaboratively with multi-agency networks to develop and review plans that address and mitigate concerns in a timely manner and within budgetary requirements. The Children with Disabilities management team also have operational responsibility for the Occupational Therapy Service. In your role as Assistant Team Manager, you will support the Team Manager to oversee day to day functioning of the Occupational Therapy Service and support in the delivery of personal supervision to Occupational Therapy staff as required; clinical supervision is offered by qualified Occupational Therapy staff. As an Assistant Team Manager in the Children with Disabilities Team you will lead by example and support the Team Manager to promote and develop good practice through training and development activities. You will have the ability to work independently and problem solve and deputise for the Team Manager in their absence. You will work closely with the CWD Early Help and Short Breaks and Transitions Teams, who are co-located at Shute End and will be required to liaise with health and education professionals in order to support social workers to develop support packages for children with multiple and complex needs. As such, the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders and communicate effectively in both verbal and written form are key, as is the ability to understand and effectively navigate multi-agency systems and processes. Your practical skills as a Social Worker will be supported by a working knowledge of the legislation that governs work with Children with Disabilities, including the Children’s Act 1989 as amended, the Children’s Act 2002, the Care Act 2014 and the Children and Families Act 2014. A Social Work qualification is essential to perform this job role and prior experience of working with children with disabilities is desirable.
