Overview
My client are looking for a senior financial controller to join their large team. The role will carry a broad remit across controlling, reporting, and business analysis activities, operational management of tax matters and deputise for the Director of Finance and Accounting. Key skills required- Degree educated, qualified accountant, likely ACA and likely trained with one of the Big 4 accountancy firms. Extensive finance experience ideally gained in large scale international organisations, but also requiring a hands on / detailed approach. Strong Excel skills and extensive exposure to major accounting systems software / ERP, ideally SAP. Knowledge of Navision beneficial. Strong IFRS and accounting knowledge. Sound understanding of principles of taxation, both direct and indirect, and also in an international context. The role responsibilities- Assist in the preparation of the quarterly Group IFRS reporting package and reviewing accordingly. Assist in the preparation of analysis, reports and presentations for UK board meetings, quarterly meetings etc. Working with the clients personnel with a particular focus on lease accounting, financial instrument accounting (including bunker hedging and effectiveness testing), inventory accounting and working capital Operational management of tax matters, working closely with external advisers and the tax authorities. Prepares, coordinates with external advisers and reviews all tax filing requirements including corporate tax returns, transfer pricing policies, tax risk reviews, including SAO and CFA / CCO and leading on associated training, VAT returns (and associated VAT / systems matters), liaison with Italian VAT representative, supporting the business with relevant PO / VAT and related matters and coordinating with the HR team on employee related tax matters. Supporting role on corporate governance matters on behalf of the Company and wider activities, including anti bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, fraud risk assessment, whistleblowing, requirements of s172 statement, corporate governance statements etc. Principal special project and assignment resource within the clients UK Finance team. Providing departmental analysis for reporting purposes and working with departmental heads to control costs. Handle monthly, quarterly and year end closing, monthly management reporting and other periodical reporting requirements. Deputise for the Director of Finance and Accounts and act as back up to the back-up for the UK Accounts Manager for Budget, Forecasting and quarterly re-forecasting. Assisting with the year end audit, liaising with external auditors and also working with internal auditors, lawyers and other advisers as appropriate.
