Reports to: Group Chief Financial Officer Job Purpose: We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller, reporting to the Group CFO, responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The Financial Controller responsibilities will also include financial risk management and taxation compliance. The initial focus for the successful candidate will be to build a strong finance team for the Group’s UK subsidiary business, developing and mentoring the existing team and implementing appropriate systems and process to provide the required management information and financial control.The plan in the medium term is for this team to become the central finance function for the Haven Group. The Financial Controller will also be responsible for the Haven Group financial reporting and consolidation.There is significant growth potential in this role as the Haven Group executes its strategy. Key Interfaces: Group CFO, External Stakeholders, HMRC, Auditors, Banks The role will involve: Management of all day to day financial affairs from transactional level activity through to working with the Auditors to finalise the year-end accounts. Leadership and development of the finance team members, recruiting as required to build a high performing and scalable finance team. The objective is for this finance time to become a shared finance function for the Group as business are acquired. Management and delivery of all internal management reporting, including monthly management accounts, budget and re-forecasts, KPI's and cash flow forecasts. Cash management and forecasting including preparation of monthly and weekly cash flow forecasts and determining treasury policy. Managing the finance and accounting function, including the implementation of appropriate systems. Coordinating the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts. Coordinating and managing the annual external audit. Working with the company tax advisors to coordinate the submission of company tax returns. Key advisor to the business for new accounting standards and issues. Responsibility for accounting policies and procedures. Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting. Ensuring best practice accounting across the Group. Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls (and manage the roll out of policies and systems across the Group operating companies). Balance sheet control; owning the numbers and taking the lead over any improvements needed Presentation of monthly management accounts and commentary. On-going review of the effectiveness of financial controls and the enhancement of the financial reporting capability; thereby promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Overseeing all General Ledger activity - Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable including Credit Control. Reporting activities around WIP and AR, Sales, DSO and other KPI’s. Ensuring compliance with VAT/sales tax and payroll tax reporting / returns. Relationship management with external stakeholders i.e. HMRC, Auditors, bank etc. Undertaking other duties from time to time as required. We are looking for someone who with: A hands-on big 4 qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with excellent technical finance skills (essential) At least 5 years PQE working as a financial controller in industry (essential) Technology industry experience for at least part of the PQE (essential) The ability to demonstrable track record of enhancing systems, processes and controls in complex international organisations. (essential) International accounting experience including managing multi-currency and cross-border consolidations (essential) Experience in implementing new systems for ERP, consolidation, business reporting, and business planning purposes (essential) Advanced business modelling skills (desirable) Commercial business planning experience e.g. analysing financial impact of differing operational strategies, investment appraisals, and scenario modelling for long and short term planning purposes (desirable) Strong IFRS technical accounting skillset (essential) Able to demonstrate financial control, reporting and leadership experience in a similar sized organisations (essential) Strong systems skills including MS Excel (essential) Able to communicate with senior level audiences (desirable) Reliable, organised and calm under pressure (essential) Meticulous; able to work with a high level of accuracy and meet strict deadlines (essential) Travel: Limited European travel Working hours: Normal working hours are 7.5 hours a day - Monday – Friday from our Canary Wharf office and with the option to work from home occasionally.
