Overview

Department Description The ESN Test Department is responsible for testing within the ESN Programme (one of the five test stages). The ESN Performance Test Manager will work collaboratively with the UK Home Office and EE to maintain and deliver the testing. The ESN Programme focuses on 7 Required Behaviours, which will be discussed with you at interview and form part of any Induction into the programme. This ensures that anyone joining the programme exhibits these behaviours, as collaborative working practices must be shown at all times. The Test Manager is required to work with a multi-discipline, multi site programme team with responsibility for the definition, planning and execution of the testing. Key Responsibilities: Deliver Performance Test Stage. Responsible for Performance Test Plans, Test Execution and Test Completion Reports. Lead Test Readiness Reviews and Test Completion Reviews. Ensuring Test artefacts are delivered on time to meet program milestones. Working closely with the Head of Test to effectively and efficiently deliver test stages; Define, plan, build a test team for successful delivery & sustaining activities of ESN Program. Collaborate with Workstream leads to support their delivery of milestones on time, to cost and quality. Deliver Automation for Performance Testing. Managing Performance testing with complex test requirements whilst utilizing appropriate testing techniques, tools and strategies to provide end to end testing solutions. Managing, influencing and negotiating with test delivery suppliers, partners and / or system integrators. Define, implement and measure key test KPIs to ensure high test & quality standards are achieved. Lead test workshops with suppliers & partner to ensure collaboration with all key test stakeholders. Line manage and Mentor test team members. Identify, organise and implement training to test team. Responsible for continuous process improvement across Performance test team. Coordinating, planning, prioritizing and scheduling Performance Test Life cycle. Effective collaboration and co-working with Other ESN Suppliers Chair Test Readiness Reviews and Test Completion Reviews Chair test workshops with stakeholders following Performance test stages and capturing lessons learned Chairing regular Test Progress Reviews Acting as facilitator and decision maker for Test Incident resolution during test execution; Consulting with ESN governance bodies to determine impact to testing resulting from changes; Ensuring a common standard for test plans and test procedure documents. Participating in Test Process Improvement and lessons learned reviews. Basic Requirements The following skills are considered essential: A degree (preferably in an Engineering related subject) or equivalent is required; ISEB/ISTQB Test Foundation and Certified ISTQB Advanced Test Manager, as well as experience of V model and risk based approaches to testing. Knowledge of industry and professional standards for Testing Expertise in incident management and problem solving; Experience in managing testing of Mission Critical solutions; Good understanding of Public Safety Communication System requirements; Good understanding of Mobile Network Operating solutions, RAN, EPC, Protocols and Procedures and Tooling Good understanding of Performance and Stress Testing of OSS and BSS sub systems Have a very good understanding of LTE and 3G/2G solutions that use the Operator network and different vendors. Demonstrable up to date understanding of the LTE network for voice (IMS) and data services Good working knowledge of load testing Good working knowledge of the services carried on 2G, 3G & 4G network. Good working knowledge of LTE & 3G/2G Architecture/Protocols to include voice, data and Value added services (SMS, MMS), SIP, DIAMETER, RTCP Good understanding of test stages and test phases required during systems integration of large communication systems; Good working knowledge of Testing and Protocol analysis Tools; Working knowledge of Project Management methodologies and principles. Drive to proactively anticipate, manage and monitor reporting and progress tracking of test incidents; Ability to influence stakeholders to resolve incidents and ensure test objectives are met; ITIL v3 foundation or practitioner would be beneficial; Successful at developing and managing relationships at all level organizational levels; Experienced in working to ISO Quality Standards. Membership (active) maintained within an ICT / engineering based association.
