Overview

AWE are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to manage the delivery of a portfolio of projects encompassing building services; process plant and equipment upgrade and replacement projects; and new build infrastructure and refurbishment projects, within AWE's existing science and manufacturing facilities. Project values will typically range from £100K to £20M. The role will provide the candidate the opportunity to develop their skills in delivering complex engineering and construction projects in a highly regulated and safety critical environment. To qualify for the role, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering projects in challenging environments (not necessarily within the same industry); show clear drive and determination to deliver excellence in all aspects of their work; and feel comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and in an environment with a strong safety culture. Key Accountabilities : Manage the delivery of the assigned portfolio of projects to scope, time, cost and quality requirements, in compliance with AWE processes. Work with sponsors, stakeholders and end users to develop clear requirements, and there after select the most appropriate options and ensure outcomes are delivered. Work with Programme Managers to ensure alignment and integration with overarching programmes. Develop scope for projects and implement NEC ECC contracts with framework partners. Ensure accurate forecasting and reporting of project cost and schedule performance, with early warning of issues. Ensure project resources are appropriately managed, led and utilised. Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player. Key skills and experience required : Relevant engineering degree and evidence of project management qualification and competence. Knowledge and delivery experience of new build infrastructure and refurbishment projects, building services and process plant and equipment projects. The ability to read, analyse and interpret charts, spreadsheets, schedules and (in some business areas) technical drawings The ability to manage resources effectively (people, budget, equipment) Evidence of working with standard form contracts (NEC, JCT) Evidence of successfully leading cross-functional teams in a complex project environment Experience of leading cross functional teams in a complex environment. Matrix management of people, money and materiel. Experience of directing initiating, directing and conducting risk and opportunity identification and management. A clear and concise communication style (oral and written), with the ability to compile reports and present to peers and Senior Managers Occasionally fulfil any other reasonable duties, aligned to your position, to support or answer business needs.
