Senior Project Manager - Fissile Control

Overview

AWE are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager (Fissile Control, Instrumentation & Safety Systems), to deliver a portfolio of control, instrumentation and safety systems projects (encompassing FMCS, DCS, CAVAS, CIDAS, CAMS and SIL rated safety systems). The portfolio will support programmes to refurbish, rekit and extend the life of existing capabilities, as well as the delivery of new systems. Experience of working within nuclear license conditions would be advantageous but not essential. Key Accountabilities : Deliver the Fissile Control, Instrumentation and Safety Systems portfolio to scope, time, cost and quality requirements, in compliance with AWE processes. Help shape AWE control systems thinking, in line with industry best practice. Work with stakeholders and end users to develop clear requirements, and there after select the most appropriate options. Work with the supply chain to ensure engagement of 'best athlete' partners for delivery. Work with Fissile Delivery Managers and Programme Managers to ensure alignment and integration with overarching programmes. Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player. Key skills and experience required : Extensive relevant engineering knowledge. Chartered engineer preferred. Extensive knowledge of new and legacy control, instrumentation, safety and IT systems (inc IEC 61508, IEC61508, Programmable Logic Controllers, Distributed Control Systems, Solid state and Programmable safety systems (SIL1 to SIL3). Evidence of planning and delivering of complex programmes or projects, preferably in the nuclear environment. The ability to manage cross pillar programmes and or projects with a focus on governance (compliance, reporting and EVM). Experience of leading cross functional teams in a complex environment. Matrix management of people, money and materiel. Experience of initiating and executing change against the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB). Experience of directing initiating, directing and conducting risk and opportunity identification and management. A clear and concise communication style (oral and written), with the ability to compile reports and present to peers and Senior Managers Occasionally fulfil any other reasonable duties, aligned to your position, to support or answer business needs.
