Description Please note that Surrey County Council's headquarters, where this role is currently based, will be phasing a relocation back into Surrey starting at the end of this year to support our Community Vision 2030. About the role With an exciting new financial Improvement programme, new Community Vision for Surrey and organisational strategy in place, we have made huge strides over the past year; stabilising our finances and developing a transformation programme that will fundamentally change the way we work, for the benefit of Surrey residents. You will be at the forefront of excellent financial management and transformation, part of a team working to deliver great services to the community and to ensure our finances are sustainable. We are looking for finance professionals who are forward thinking, influential and able to make a real impact. We're looking for fresh ideas and inspiration to help us in our transformation, building on solid foundations in our drive to be the best. This post is the lead for the organisation's financial accounting reporting and the statement of accounts, working collaboratively with finance business partners and senior managers to enable a strong culture of financial management and robust financial information and reporting. You will be a CCAB qualified accountant with significant experience in a local authority or similar organisations. You will be able to demonstrate experience in the preparation of statutory accounts, together with strong technical accounting skills and a good working knowledge of the local authority financial codes of practice. You should also have a proven track record of undertaking complex financial analysis and possess the ability to communicate this information in an understandable manner to a wide range of users, including members, senior management and auditors. You will have excellent financial management capability combined with strong communication, relationship-building and influencing skills.
