Overview

Business Continuity Consultant - Contract - Edinburgh - Up to £475 per day (Inside IR35) As a Business Continuity Consultant, you’ll direct, implement and support the BCM, WPR strategy and framework across the business to ensure that the entire company can continue to function and meet its business and regulatory obligations in the event of an unforeseen interruption - safeguarding the interests of our customers, key stakeholders, reputation, brand and value-creating activities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES · During a major incident or crisis, making and supporting the right, on-the-spot decision and giving clear, immediate direction where there is a minimum amount of factual information available - ensuring the balance between associated costs vs solutions is considered. · Responding to an incident - local, major and crisis - and controlling the process on the ground where appropriate, providing clear and concise information to staff at all levels. · Providing hands-on solution development, by seeking to understand not only business needs, but also practicalities and constraints in terms of both premises and ICT services. The relevant people must be aware of the limitations of solutions, and be prepared to make compromises. · Keeping workplace recovery on the business agenda at all times, and building processes to capture new requirements - amending group plans accordingly. · Working with BCM staff across the group to ensure BC methodology is standardised and applied consistently, and that BCP strategies are effective and appropriately mitigate business risks. · Operating effectively in a virtual team work environment. · Communicating clearly and concisely to a wide variety of agency and public representatives and representing the group in a positive manner, dealing with sensitive issues with diplomacy. · Leading, developing and implementing the group BCM and WPR strategy and framework to ensure the group is fully prepared and able to recover from any incident (local to group wide) within specified timescales and with minimum impact to key stakeholders, such as customers. · Communicating business continuity to the group Operational Resilience Manager to ensure they are fully aware of the company’s ability to recover from any incident, prior to group-wide dissemination. · Developing workplace recovery capability to support and manage across the group, ensuring each area has plans in place to aid a speedy recovery of services in the event of an incident. · Providing support, leadership, management and maintenance of the group emergency response framework, and playing a key coordination role in the group Crisis Management Structure Incident Response in the event of an actual or imminent disaster. · Successfully delivering the annual group disaster recovery exercise, and coordinating and managing procedures for the group to ensure thorough preparation for the various impacts of incidents occurring. · Establishing effective relationships with Crisis Leaders (major and local), Incident Managers and Response Teams to ensure boundaries of various roles are understood. · Managing or mitigating risk exposures by recommending and, where applicable, implementing solutions that protect the group’s assets. · Working with ICT services, translating group environment insights into recommendations on BCM improvements, and delivering innovative DR solutions which add clear and quantifiable value to the group. · Providing relationship management which supports the group monitoring of potential crisis and major incident situations and preparedness, and keeps the Group Operational Resilience Manager and/or Operating Company Executive and Business Resilience Managers informed of significant gaps and developments that may require mitigation.
