Job Description
In a nutshell As the Finance Business Partner supporting our Operations & IT functions, you'll be working closely with our Heads of these areas and be responsible for providing financial support, insight and challenge on their financial performance. What success looks like? You'll be a Qualified Accountant (preferable) with practical experience of financial reporting and management accounting or you'll have strong financial modelling qualifications coupled with commercial experience. You'll be able to demonstrate an ability to think and reason logically with the skill to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team. What you'll be doing * Representing Finance at the Operations & IT cost centre meetings, being the Business Partner to the Heads of these areas. You'll be responsible for providing financial support, insight and challenge on financial performance of Operations & IT. * Monthly rolling forecasting to facilitate the understanding of the cost base, the ongoing risks, opportunities and how this impacts the full year out turn projection. You'll assist in the delivery of plans to support the Bank in driving efficiency and value for money. * Challenging assumptions through analysis of trends and other MI available, combined with your judgment and expertise to deliver realistic, challenging and balanced forecasts and budgets. Reviewing outputs for accuracy. * Co-ordinating and processing information from various sources, to ensure the delivery of all aspects of the annual planning cycle and regular forecasting processes. You'll work across all stakeholders to understand and minimise ambiguity in future performance, use your judgment and expertise to set challenging yet achievable budgets and forecasts within the context of wider Bank strategy. * Working independently to develop or simplify existing models and processes to ensure maximum efficiency. * Acting as primary point of contact within finance for your cost areas. You'll be responsible for ensuring that business developments are shared with appropriate Finance colleagues and are financially robust. What you need to know and show * You'll preferably be a qualified Accountant with practical experience of financial reporting and management accounting or alternatively will have strong financial modelling qualifications and commercial experience. A prior knowledge of financial services would be advantageous. * Demonstrable strong relationship management skills, ideally partnering within a commercial function. * You'll be well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure. * Highly numerate, with excellent analytical, problem-solving and Excel skills. * Excellent team player, ability to work closely with others to deliver results. * Customer-focused. * Proven track record of working on own initiative, demonstrating an ability to think and reason logically with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team. * Excellent written communication and an ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation, translating complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level.
