Building Control - Structural Engineer
Overview
New Building Control, Structural Engineer Position offering £43K-£53K Your new company This Council in London has the largest Building Control team within London, the structural engineering department. They are at the forefront of re-development and re-generation. Your new role To manage a structural engineering caseload on a day to day basis with regard to all aspects of the Building Regulations, relevant legislation and guidance, providing support /cover to other areas as necessary and reasonable. To assist in the guidance, support and supervision of staff so as to ensure that building work complies with the relevant Acts and Regulations. To provide assistance and support to the Building Control Team. To maintain membership of a relevant professional body. The post-holder is expected to visit and inspect construction sites and dangerous structures, they should therefore be able to climb down into foundation trenches, climb ladders and negotiate scaffolding. Must have a driving license valid for driving in the UK and be able to provide a car or other suitable means of transport. The ability to carry out the full range of duties as a lone worker on site and in potentially hazardous environments and circumstances normally without support or supervision. The ability and willingness to promote health and safety on site in accordance with Corporate and Government policy and legal requirements. The post holder may be required, outside office hours and on a rota basis, to work unsociable hours and to attend and be responsible for dealing with dangerous structures. What you'll need to succeed Ability to read and understand maps and advanced/complex construction drawing, plans including structural drawings, calculations and services information.Ability to operate the Software in use within the Building Control Division with training as necessary for specialist applications. Be willing and able to promote health and safety on site in accordance with Corporate and Government policies, and legal requirements. Ability to communicate appropriately and clearly, at a suitable pace and level. What you'll get in return You will receive a competitive salary of up to £53K.
