Product Engineer Southampton BPS World is partnering with a British FTSE 250 company who operate within the electrical manufacturing and consumer goods industry. They are leading the way in the design, development and high-volume production of electrical products which are developed in Southampton and sold globally. Selling millions of units per year, the business continues to grow since being first established in 1902. BPS World is helping our client to search for a Product Engineer who will be responsible for investigating product design risks and implement engineering changes to improve product quality and reduce cost. This will involve; Interpreting design drawings for design for manufacturing (DFM). Reviewing the design of new products based on best design principles and feedback. Ensuring that all improvements have been thoroughly tested and robust design verification plans are in place. Reviewing and performing defective product investigations and establish root cause. Working with in-house experts and external test houses to ensure that products are compliant with relevant regulations, on a global level. Reviewing and managing device engineering documentation including engineering drawings, test reports and technical manuals. Requirements; Experience with hand-held consumer electronics. Experience in project management and working on multiple project at the same time. Familiar with 3D CAD (Solidworks Preferred) APQP. DFMEA / FMEA analysis. Compliance testing (Reach and RoHS) Route Cause analysis and problem solving. This is a perfect role for someone familiar in working within a fast-moving consumer electronics manufacturing company.
