The role is a key appointment within our new Coventry warehouse operations team, contributing to the Group’s longer-term operational strategy. This role reports directly to Coventry Health, Safety and Facilities Officer This newly created role is fundamental to the future success of the Coventry warehouse and the group. Given this is a newly created role in our rapidly evolving warehouse operations, the candidate will be key in shaping our maintenance strategy. The role will entail all elements of maintenance for the Coventry warehouse operations. On a day-to-day basis the role will. The candidate will work alongside our health, safety, and facilities management team and operations. We have a logistics network across the UK with 6 other locations and, at times, the candidate may be required to provide maintenance support to these sites. This role is 4 days on and 4 days off Rota, each shift being 12 hours -3.5 days (Sunday to Wednesday midday / Wednesday midday to Saturday) Main Responsibilities Focus on preventative maintenance and repair of our newly installed conveyors and automation equipment as well as monitoring and/or maintaining key elements of the warehouse infrastructure such as fire suppression and sprinkler systems Scheduling and managing reactive and preventative maintenance of equipment and building services on a new 100k square foot site in Coventry Carry out maintenance of the automation equipment to ensure operational downtime is kept to a minimum Schedule and carry out planned maintenance on the key components of the facility to ensure statutory building compliance is met Lead by example to establish and ensure adherence to all Health & Safety legislation and company policies Ensure completeness and accuracy of all maintenance records Identifying and correcting electrical and mechanical faults on our automaton system using PLC diagnostics where appropriate, to ensure high levels of throughput and uptime Provide reports on the activities and performance of the automation and conveyors Proactively identify and implement continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to maximise the efficiency of our automation and conveyors Person specification and prior experience We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to work for an e-fulfilment business that strives for and continues to experience strong sales growth. The successful individual will have a strong engineering record in a warehouse environment The successful candidate will identify and execute all aspects of planned and reactive maintenance within the operation which runs 7 days per week, 14hrs per day with occasional out of hours working. The company will provide progressive training and development and is always looking to invest in its employees and enhance their skill sets. Whilst being a great team player is important to deliver the requirements above, the individual will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work autonomously. Given the complexity of our business and our desire for high quality output the individual will also need to possess: Degree or HNC/HND/ NVQ Level 4 in a relevant engineering discipline Multi-skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines Significant practical engineering experience in warehouse or production environment Experience of managing and fault finding on automated equipment including packaging machinery, sortation and conveyor systems and building services Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) in English Experience of working to appropriate health & safety standards and regulations Excellent computer skills such as MS Office and automation monitoring tools Experience in PLC Fault Finding Willingness to learn new skills The individual will need to demonstrate a flexible approach in terms of hours worked, especially in peak trading periods and also the ability to travel on an ad-hoc basis to other sites in the UK.
