General: Specialising in the design of fluid systems (demineralised water, gas or compressed air) the System Engineer will be responsible for performing the necessary engineering analyses, (including the supporting calculations), for a specific system(s) in order to update the documentation required for the HPC project. Principle Duties Responsible for updating the System Design Manual: Analysis and verification of the input data Describing the system, its role and mission (including the safety missions) Updating and implementing the Safety Classified Component List (SCCL) Carrying out the process and operational design of the system Sizing components e.g. pumps, pipework, pressure relief valves Producing component datasheets required for the procurement of equipment Ensuring the 3D model is accurate and consistent with the intended system design Working closely with counterparts in the Paris office and with the client to agree common approaches and share knowledge Management of modifications related to the system: Managing requests for modifications to system(s) issued by various external parties Analysis and verification of the applicability of these modifications and challenging them as appropriate Developing technical solutions and presenting them to the client to help resolve technical issues Utilising the electronic Engineering Change Management tool Coordination of the System Design Manual Activity Organising the activity, including organising pre-job and post job briefs, collection of input documents, producing a Design File for the activity Presenting the activity, process and planning for the activity to the team Reporting of activity progress to management Criteria: Essential: Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification Knowledge of nuclear fluid system design, calculation and modelling Working knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics Knowledge of PWR or AGR power station design and system Understanding of Safety Case construction and Nuclear Safety requirements placed on systems Understanding of Nuclear Safety principles related to design of HVAC systems on a Nuclear Power Station Knowledge of UK licensing requirements and its application within the HPC project Desirable: Knowledge of EPR design principles and Safety Classification Experience of performing design work on UK nuclear facilities Familiarity with Human Performance techniques Experience of working on an operating plant or on an industrial site This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89199693
