Overview

MAIN JOB PURPOSE The Legal Counsel role at Nominet is very varied but will have a predominantly contract focus. You will report to the General Counsel & Head of Stakeholder Relations and be the legal Business Partner to support Nominet’s Registry and Cyber sales and product teams on sales/license transactions, commercial deals and partnership opportunities globally. The role's substantive legal focus will be on technology and software as well as privacy/data regulations. This role offers you a great opportunity to take the first step into an "In -House" role where you have the opportunity to work on large Government contracts as well as being heavily involved with our "Profit for a Purpose" working with our charitable partners. JOB SUMMARY Specific day-to-day responsibilities of the Legal Counsel will include: Supporting Registry and Cyber sales and product teams on sales/license transactions, commercial deals and partnership opportunities globally. Providing timely, proactive, and thoughtful advice on legal issues to ensure closing commercial deals each quarter. Undertaking the day-to-day yet constantly changing transactional work including drafting and negotiating inbound and outbound licensing agreements, consulting agreements, master services agreements, strategic alliance agreements, data processing addendums, reseller agreements, and other commercial agreements. Helping streamline business practices by addressing opportunities for contract and policy related process improvements across multi-functional teams. Contributing to the contract management process by regularly updating and maintaining standard template agreements across multiple jurisdictions. Monitoring changes to and ensuring compliance with local regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and related documentation and serving as a subject matter expert with respect to these regulations. Managing and contributing to understanding legal requirements to operate in various regions globally. Providing practical legal advice and support on a variety business matters in a fast-paced environment. KEY REQUIREMENTS Legal Qualification Post qualified experience in a legal firm or company dealing with commercial, IT & IP issues Excellent stakeholder management at all levels Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written Positive and proactive attitude Able to manage time and priorities effectively Attention to detail Commercially astute
