Overview
Our client is one of Europe's largest independent equities brokers. They provide institutional investors with research and trading in European equity markets. It is renowned for its focus on quality and premium client service, while its independence avoids the potential conflicts of interest prevalent in the equity research market. The role We are looking for a senior financial modelling and accounting analyst/manager to work within Modelling team, which is part of the research management department. The role will help to extend its coverage of European and US stocks and will facilitate robust modelling and accounting practices throughout the firm. The role will involve: Managing the model building pipeline. This involves liaising with our equity analysts, prioritising needs, managing our junior modelling analysts and building accurate and robust company financial models. It is essential that these have a rigorous and detailed P&Ls and fully integrated financial statements. Model specification will differ depending on sector. Develop and lead the company's accounting offering. This will involve researching forensic accounting ideas with a view to building a client-facing product. Develop and manage an internal service for analysts to review company disclosures in annual reports and analyse key trends over time. Respond to ad hoc accounting queries from analysts as necessary. Performing model audits on analyst's existing models to identify Excel logic, calculation, accounting or valuation errors and to offer constructive areas for improvement. Providing accountancy training for junior analysts. Providing numbers checking support on occasions when necessary. Person Specification The ideal candidate will have: Degree level education (2.1 or above). ACA qualification or equivalent; likely to have first time passes. Manager level preferred if currently employed in an accounting firm. Experience in financial modelling (preferably in a business modelling department of an accounting firm). Strong Excel and analytical skills Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team Good communication skills to engage with our analysts. Package Competitve rate salary plus discretionary cash bonus paid twice a year. Normal benefits package including nine per cent company contribution to pension scheme. Twenty five days' holiday per annum rising to 30 days after 5 years' service on a full-time basis
