Overview
We are looking for a Chief Scientific Officer to join a multi-disciplinary group working on discovering and developing plant based, antivirals to act as human immunostimulatory agents against respiratory viral infections. We are a small and very early stage start-up recruiting some of the innovators and leading researchers in the emerging field of plant based antivirals. You should be a graduate scientist (with or without a PhD) keen to work on human immunology at the interface between botany, mycology, fundamental biology and patient-focused research. You will work on several projects, including research, selection and delivery of our current prospect bioactive compounds aiming to deliver new clinically authentic products. Some of the new compounds will require invitro analysis and testing on human trial participants. You will recruit and manage post-doctoral research associates in order to process clinical samples Run immune assays using virology, fundamental immunology and molecular techniques; Develop novel laboratory methods; and analyse resulting data. Manage the process of isolation of new bioactives from plant sources. Oversea the preparation of the concerntrated compounds for delivery as novel immunostimulatory products for bringing to market. We are an early stage team, we are hiring a builder. Someone who is energetic and ambitious and comfortable running the technical and scientific division of a young biotech start-up. We are expecting: Technical degree in virology, immunology, micro-biology Experience of plant based drug or nutraceutical discovery and development Interest in botany or mycology You should have a strong interest in human infectious disease and immunology and be able to meticulously process samples and generate laboratory data, maintaining the highest quality and consistency.
