RUSHEY GREEN PRIMARY SCHOOL Job Description Job Title: Deputy Headteacher Liaison with: Headteacher and staff within Rushey Green Primary School Appropriate staff from the Local Authority Managers from related agencies Relevant personnel from professional organisations, unions etc. Parents, carers, School Association, Governing Body where appropriate and others. Purpose of the job: To assist the Headteacher in the discharge of his/her duties and take full responsibility in the absence of the Headteacher. Main Duties / Responsibilities: Working in close partnership with the Headteacher, office and all staff to ensure smooth day-to day running of the school Deputising in the absence of the Headteacher Consultation with the Headteacher on school organisation, curriculum and staff development (school improvement plan, prospectus, handbook, appraisal, Inset, child protection, exclusions etc). Responsibility for compiling the school information file Assist in the production of school literature - reports, brochures, school website etc. To carry out the role of team leader in Performance Management process To organise Inset and use of the inset budget - addressing outcomes of staff professional development interviews and school development plan Co-ordination and planning for Early Years, Key Stage 1or 2 Convene Key Stage staff meetings as appropriate and work with opposite key stage co-ordinator to ensure continuity within and between key stages. Ensure that behaviour in the school reflects high standards expected by the Governing Body and the School Behaviour Policy, managing and monitoring incidents of poor behaviour and bullying. Responsibility for the overseeing of student teachers, new teachers and supply teachers; also NNEB AND NVQ students work experience students and visitors to the School. Responsibility for the development and induction of supply teachers. To attend weekly senior leadership meetings. To attend weekly meetings with the Headteacher To support Section 11 staff and to meet with them as required. To monitor and develop strategies for improving poor and maintaining high attendance and punctuality. To monitor the dissemination of information/management of information within the School. To line manage the Teaching Assistants -being responsible for induction, co-ordination and development in the School (in consultation with the SENCO). To share responsibility with the Headteacher for monitoring and defining School Policy - all procedures in consultation with the Governing Body. Deputise as Key Health and Safety Manager. Take school assemblies as required. Oversee the organisation of class/school stock requisitioning. To share responsibility with the head for children late or uncollected at the end of the day. To teach as timetabled (currently a minimum of 2 mornings a week for 2 terms) and to cover classes as required. To undertake training as and when necessary for continuation of own professional development and ability to manage in a role professionally. Responsibility for organising the EYFS, KS1and 2 assembly rota and ensuring that they conform to the School Policy on Collective Worship. Ensure that public areas with in the school are kept presentable and tidy at all times, and take responsibility for staff amenities/ facilities room. Oversee the organisation of Early Years and KS1or KS2 Statutory Assessment working with assessment co-ordinator to evaluate and analyse test and task results; to ensure that appropriate reporting arrangements are in place. Responsibility for directing staff to ensure that timetabling of shared areas ensures efficient use and that these areas are maintained to a high standard. Ensure records of staff meetings are kept. To support the smooth running of the out of school activities and After School Clubs and co-ordinate organisation of major school events to ensure high standards. Support and mediate as necessary to promote the aims of the school and defuse conflict. Any other duties as directed by the Headteacher which are relevant to the specific post and commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility.
