Overview

Occupation Therapist Band 6 and 7 required Hampshire Our client is a fast growing business and a leading provider of Healthcare Service solutions including Wheelchair and Community Equipment Services. The Wheelchair Service Centres provide excellent facilities for clients, carers and staff, providing a range of wheelchairs and associated accessories to maximise the independence of clients, helping them towards meeting their potential. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist Band 6 and 7 to join the team on a full-time or part-time basis. A brief (non-exhaustive) overview of the role is as follows: Undertaking holistic assessment of adults and children with a variety of physical, cognitive and/or learning disabilities impacting on mobility. Many service users present with complex multi-pathologies which require a higher level of understanding of the impact of these conditions/disabilities. Assessing for and prescribing wheeled mobility equipment to meet the assessed clinical need such as: Self propelling and transit manual wheelchairs (from basic to highly configurable) Electrically powered Indoor and outdoor chairs (EPIOC) Tilt in space manual / EPIOC Specialist Pressure cushions Wheelchair accessories (harnesses, belts, head rests, one off modifications) Depending on experience and with further training you may work with the wider team (rehabilitation engineers and senior therapists) on provision of: Modular seating systems Paediatric wheelchairs (manual and powered) Specialist buggies Custom contoured seating systems. Providing education and training in use of equipment using a 24 hour postural and pressure management approach in collaboration with service users, their families and other networks such as the wider multi-disciplinary team. Relating in an empathetic manner with service users and their networks to equip them with the knowledge and understanding to manage their mobility needs. Therapists work alongside the service users to promote healthy lifestyles and routines to reduce risk of secondary health conditions (pressure ulcers, weight gain) that can follow loss of mobility. Working with the team on risk management and ensuring equipment provision supports mobility whilst being safe for use in the community with consideration to accessible environments and transport options. Engaging in service development and CPD training activities which could include attending conferences and a range of in-house and external training. Participate and contribute as required with clinical audit, evaluation and research activities. About you: A BSc degree or PG diploma in Occupational or Physiotherapy Current HCPC /professional registration Professional experience working with patients with long-term conditions - experience in paediatric, neurological or equipment provision services is considered very relevant. Previous experience of working in a wheelchair service is preferred. Experience can include rotational experience. Current UK driving licence is essential (minimum 3 years) and a willingness to drive company vehicles.
