Overview

Job title: Landed Estates Specialist We have a new vacancy within a top 10 practice for someone who has experience advising on trust and capital tax matters. The ideal candidate will be required to support the provision of capital and income tax advice to our clients existing landed estate client base and marketing initiatives following the ongoing development of the landed estates practice within the firm. The role The main responsibilities will be different depending on the level of the role and the experience of the individual however you would support the various partners and senior management across the firm in the provision of specialist advice to the firm’s existing landed estates’ clients. To varying degrees, it will also be: To support and lead (as appropriate) the group’s marketing initiatives, including speaking at seminars, the preparation and editing of articles in both in-house and external publications/websites. To manage and organise the timely dissemination of any legislative developments relevant to the landed estates sector within the firm. To be an active member of the Estates Discussion Group and to represent the firm on landed estates related industry forums, as appropriate to one’s level of responsibility. Support and development Ongoing support and development for further qualifications and life-long learning are, as with all fee-earners, key to keeping up to date with technical developments and providing the expert advice our clients expect. Support is provided both internally and externally with business development skills, presenting and pitching skills, media training, marketing, portfolio creation and networking. This support is ongoing depending on individual needs. Personal portfolio development is required to gain clients and referrals and this is where contacts made at earlier points of career development are key. There is a wide range of marketing support available, through the National Practice Groups, the central marketing team and peers. Education and experience An appropriate candidate will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following characteristics: Proven track record with relevant experience of advising on trust and capital tax matters Good communication and presentation skills Able to articulate their tax knowledge to non-tax colleagues and clients Could be a qualified solicitor, chartered tax advisor or accountant, a barrister or even ex-HMRC Inspector or a Director, salaried partner or experienced senior manager in existing firm User friendly and approachable Aptitude to help with tenders and ability to generate own work helpful.
