Overview
Our client is on a mission to reinvent the accountancy field and support fast-growth technology focused businesses scale their operations. As the leading challenger accountancy firm, they are utilising AI and machine learning to automate finance processes. Through this automation, the clients accounts are more accurate and timely but it also enables more time to work on commercial aspects of finance, driving growth for their clients business. You will be have a robust technical knowledge of all aspects of accounting. You will also have an understanding of year-end statutory accounts and corporation tax. Good managers lead by example and inspire their team - you will oversee a team of 4-5 staff some qualified and others partway through their qualifications. You will be excellent at time management, and will take responsibility for overseeing all client requirements of the team. Managing a client portfolio for a diverse range of startups and SMES providing an excellent, proactive service VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax management for clients ensuring delivery is excellent for clients. Prepares monthly management accounts and provides virtual CFO support to clients Prepares and reviews statutory annual accounts for filing and returns to company house Provides financial management support to business and takes pro active role in improving information and procedures Chair team meetings and manage 4-5 staff members Manages client allocation across the team for newly onboarded clients Liaise with legal advisors over any fund raising issues and ensure procedures are met Be the go-to point of contact for manager level client and internal queries, together with the monitoring of team deliverables to ensure that we meet our internal SLAs We move fast here and so applicants need to have a minimum 3 years previous experience of working in a UK firm of accountants, must be qualified. The ability to take the initiative to solve problems and a desire to learn are key. General: ACCA / ACA/ CIMA qualified with at least 3 years practice experience. Experience of accounting for start ups. Excellent IT skills including Xero and Excel Ability to lead a client team and to inspire junior staff Delegate workload, ensure timely delivery of work and meet team KPI’s. Self-motivated with a drive to achieve and a passion to deliver top quality work Excellent time management, organisational and planning skills Excellent communication skills - in person and written Outstanding attention to details Xero experience is a big plus Quickbooks experience is a big plus Technical: Good working knowledge of basic corporation tax rules and compliance processes Good working knowledge of basic income tax rules and personal tax compliance processes Awareness of basic VAT rules Awareness of basic PAYE rules Strong work ethic Strong client communication skills Quick learner
