Overview

Meraki Talent are currently working with a oil and gas client in Edinburgh city centre who are looking for a Infrastructure Engineer to on them on a permanent basis. The Infrastructure Engineer position is a hands-on senior technical role. The role is responsible for the deployment of IT technologies covering all elements of the technical IT Infrastructure, delivering according to IT infrastructure policies and standards, and working with managed service partners. The role will be expected to manage external IT business partners, design solutions and collaborate in the implementation of technologies and platforms supporting complex corporate data and voice infrastructure. Technical Operations: Deployment and support of global infrastructure systems Assisting the Technical Operations Manager with the preparation of overall status and activity metrics that documents and tracks delivery of IT services, planned and unplanned system outages, and other key IT performance metrics. Supporting business projects as directed. Supporting and managing branch office and offshore technical deployments. Developing and managing relationships with vendors in support of systems support. Managing overall capacity utilisation of server/hardware environment ensuring it is optimised to meet business requirements. Liaising effectively with users, service owners and partners particularly where business disruption occurs. Influencing and negotiating with managed service providers to ensure that critical time sensitive services are back on line per SLA guidelines. Assist with planning and implementing systems and network integrations following M&A activity. Document the design, operation and troubleshooting of technology platforms and procedures Essential: Strong hands-on/technical knowledge of core Microsoft technologies. Microsoft Azure scripting experience. Good understanding of user environment management, including desktops/laptops, profile management, software delivery, etc. Familiarity with IT Infrastructure technologies like storage area networks (SAN), virtualisation and networking. Proven track record of taking a lead role, acting as a go-to person for IT management with regards to IT infrastructure technologies supporting both projects and operations Champion IT procedures, policies and best practices with the managed service teams. Willing to travel to remote offices and offshore oil rigs if required. Proactive in understanding and staying up-to-date on the current projects in progress, projects in pipeline and operational issues. Similarly, must stay up-to-date with existing and new industry technology trends and applicability of software/hardware solutions. Able to develop and apply appropriate technical skills to ensure the right technical resource is in place to manage appropriate technical challenge. Ability to plan own time effectively; able to prioritise key tasks, work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Detail oriented and logical. Passion for technology. Proactive in managing activities e.g. understanding and staying up-to-date on the current projects in progress, projects in pipeline and operational issues. Similarly, must stay up-to-date with existing and new industry trends and applicability of solutions.
