Infrastructure Architect (Mainframe / WebSphere) Edinburgh 12 months £600 - £630 per day. Pensions Programme Not a cloud-based role Traditional Waterfall Programme WebSphere & Mainframe Design Work Accountable for the systems integration of infrastructure solutions to support Value Stream aligned OKRs to time and quality with no impact on service. The Infrastructure Architect will be a primary GCIO point of contact for infrastructure solutions delivery for their aligned Lab or project reporting to the Value Stream Connector. Essential: The right candidate will have the ability to create designs based on requirements and then see these designs through to delivery. Not hands-on, but needs to be able to work directly above a technical team and have technical conversations. Key responsibilities: Provide technical systems integration expertise in collaboration with Group Transformation colleagues within a squad/lab/project team. Transform business requirements and stated specifications into detailed designs. Explore the infrastructure delivery options and develop infrastructure design ideas through to formal review and approval. Works with Software Engineers to understand the business needs and describe them accordingly. Discuss solution with Subject Matter Expert (SMEs) where required to validate the functional, non-functional and security integrity of the solution and document feedback. A good appreciation of IT Security would be helpful. Ability to showcase key skills such as detailed technical consultancy, agile delivery and design, conflict management and resolution, relationship management and financial awareness. Ensures the design contains infrastructure specific requirements for delivery, for example Non Functional Requirements (NFR), infrastructure detail, volumetrics, and test environments. Unless non-functional requirements are agreed and signed off, work with Software Engineers to fully describe. Even mature requirements documents rarely fully describe a solution's Non Functional Testing (NFT) needs, so expect to contribute some refinements. Produces, owns and maintains accurate cost estimates reflecting current known solution approach for infrastructure change. Works with Engineering and Value Stream Connector to segment larger workloads into discrete project elements. Provide regularly refined estimates of demand planning for GCIO and 3rd party resources and infrastructure components required to support the lab/feature team/project team goals. Lead infrastructure aspects of change supporting lab/project goals through their full lifecycle until completion. This can include infrastructure build activities or it could be GCIO resources supporting the project through the testing cycles. Oversee GCIO resources to support the implementation and execution of change into the live environment. Support smooth handover to Business as Usual (BAU) Support Disaster Recovery test if applicable Oversee GCIO resources to address infrastructure defects over the Warranty Period
