Overview

The National Crime Agency (NCA) leads the UK’s fight to cut serious and organised crime. Digital, data and technology (DDAT) is at the heart of everything done within the NCA, from operations to the back-office, and the NCA need to be agile and innovative in how they respond to threats while exploiting the opportunities this presents. This has attributed to the growth of the organisation, leading to a number of exciting opportunities in the organisation including the IT Operations Senior Manager within the Enterprise Service function, based in London, Bristol or Leicester. Enterprise Service manages the day to day operation of the NCA IT estate, ensuring the ongoing delivery of suitably assured and operational IT services to users, responding to incidents and escalations as they arise. This is enabled through the leadership of the transition of new and changed services in and out of to the live environment and the supervision and management of the IT supply chain to ensure services are delivered in accordance with Service Levels aligned to user expectations. As a consequence, the IT Operations Senior Manager will support a complex and varied IT estate that is evolving through the delivery of the NCA transformation Programme and your key responsibilities will include: • Leading a geographically dispersed team over the functions of IT Operations, Application Management, and Supplier Engagement across a number of grades and skills • Ensuring your teams function as a single combined and focused business unit to support the NCA’s business objectives • Directing the activity of the Supplier Engagement function to work within the supply chain and with their representatives to ensure high performance relationships and to build or enhance capability, efficiency and quality • Ensuring the consistency and quality of application services. To succeed, you must be an ITIL expert (at least foundation level) with demonstrable experience in ITIL Service Management; hold a degree in an Information Technology discipline, or relevant equivalent experience; and be a member of a recognised professional body (i.e. British Computer Society; Institute of Engineering and Technology). In addition, you must have strong drive, engagement and influencing skills to enable you to support a changing and growing function proactively, a track record in driving change and project management (PRINCE2 practitioner or equivalent practical experience) within a large, complex organisation, and a can-do attitude to support the NCA’s ambitious goals. Please note that to be considered, you will have to undergo SC Enhanced clearance, and also undertake and pass a substance misuse test as part of the pre-employment checks.
