Overview
The National Crime Agency (NCA) leads the UK’s fight to cut serious and organised crime. Digital, data and technology (DDAT) is at the heart of everything done within the NCA, from operations to the back-office, and the NCA need to be agile and innovative in how they respond to threats while exploiting the opportunities this presents. This has attributed to the growth of the organisation, leading to a number of exciting opportunities in the organisation including the Data, Information Governance (IG) & Policy Senior Manager within the Chief Data Office (CDO). The CDO is responsible for managing the NCA corporate record and information holdings, whilst ensuring the NCA can confidently identify, discharge and comply with its legal information management responsibilities. Strategies are developer and standards set in gathering, storing processing, analysing and disseminating information. Requests are managed from other prosecuting authorises and the co-ordination of NCA response to major statutory and public inquiries. As a consequence, the Data, IG and Policy Senior Manager, based in the London office alongside a team of information management professionals, will provide expertise in the following areas of responsibility: • Leading a team and organisational capability responsible for providing Information, Data and Records Management direction, support and governance in support of the NCA’s strategic objectives • Managing the NCA’s information and data responsibilities under the Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998, Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) 2004 and work with partners to protect our exemption under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and other relevant legislation • Supporting the key information and risk governance stakeholders such as Senior Information Risk Owner, Data Protection Officer, Departmental Records Officer and Information Asset Owner in discharging their responsibilities around identifying and mitigating Information Risk. To succeed, you’ll hold a professional qualification in Information Records Management or Risk as well as a member of a relevant professional Association/Body. You’ll be well versed in report writing skills to Board Level, practical experience of working in an Information and Data Environment, and have a broad knowledge of relevant legislation affecting information management and records activity particularly as it relates to law enforcement and UKIC. In addition, you will be expected to have demonstrable experience and understanding of Data Protection and Legislation, Information and Records Management. Please note that to be considered, you will have to undergo SC Enhanced clearance with the ability to obtain a DV Clearance within the first 12 months in post, and also undertake and pass a substance misuse test as part of the pre-employment checks. SC Clearance checks also dictate that you must have been a UK resident for three out of the last five years.
