Overview
Locum Band 6/7 Physiotherapist: Maxxima's physiotherapy team has an exciting new opportunity for physiotherapists in East London. We are looking for band 6/7 physiotherapists to join a Telephone Fracture Clinic, a totally new service within the Trauma and Orthopaedics department. The purpose of the Telephone Fracture Clinic is to provide patients with a better co-ordinated pathway of care with senior decision making early on in their treatment. They will receive Consultant review within 72 hours of their emergency attendance. This senior decision-making will lead to a reduction in patients attending the hospital unnecessarily, freeing up clinic space for more acute patient and providing the patient with an improved experience. Some cases will be able to be discharged following a comprehensive therapist telephone consultation, some will be given advice and referred on to other services and some will be supported and invited back to face to face review. The project has already been trialled and was very successful, and new clinics will be opening immediately. The successful candidate will support the admin, team lead therapist and Consultant with the launch of the Telephone Fracture Clinic. You will assist by contacting patients who have been clinically reviewed, to let them know next steps for their journey, providing appropriate therapy support advice and notify them of appointments, chase investigations and assisting to collate local data on provision of service. Ideally you will have proven UK NHS experience at B6 level, with a particular focus on MSK and Trauma Orthopaedic condition management. This is a role suitable for someone with proven customer service skills who has used a variety of electronic patient record systems. Telephone manner is extremely important and an ability to support development of new systems to expand the service is required. Proven skills in leadership of projects and service developments would be of benefit. The role would also suit someone who physically is unable to meet manual handling demands of a more traditional therapist role.
