World Leading Global Energy Oil Company has an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Freight Operator to join the Trading Operations team in London. The Freight Operations team sits within a wider group, Global Operations, which covers functions covering cargo care, claims & demurrage, commercial advice, contracts and management of our distribution network. Freight Operators work closely with the Freight Traders to ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of our Time Charter fleet and associated voyage charters out, a role essential in order to optimise the commercial benefits to the oil trading business and the P&L of the global freight trading team. The Role: Conduct all freight operational activities promptly and professionally ensuring that all obligations and requirements under the charter party contract terms are met. This refers both to charters internally with oil desks and with third parties. Ensure the efficient operation of time chartered vessels including the issuance of voyage orders, the correct preparation of cargo tanks and the issuance of LOIs in accordance with charter party terms and conditions. Ensure that bunker procurement is optimised in terms of location and cost in close liaison with the freight trader and in line with policy and guidelines Ensure that agency appointments are made promptly and in line with policies and guidelines and that agents and master are made aware of any relevant charter party or Worldscale recoverable costs. Liaise with ship-to-ship and third party time charter (TC) ship owners regarding ship issues such as SIRE inspections (when required or expiring) crewing, maintenance and dry-docking schedules and to record this information accurately. Co-ordinate with finance re: settlement items (system reconciliations, billing to third parties) providing timely and accurate data to facilitate smooth invoicing and recovery Support Freight Trading Strategy both for term and spot ship trade activities. Identify and maximize the embedded optionality within charter party agreements (i.e. laycan, demurrage rates, ship space parcelling, ship swaps, backhaul opportunities) Liaise with oil operators to ensure smooth operations to avoid supply disruption and to optimise vessel returns and usage. Secure information regarding controlled and chartered ship positions & activities to assist with ship scheduling in a constantly changing environment. Obtain vetting and port clearances of spot ships and other spot charter administration. Work closely with the freight traders in ship profitability analysis to ensure that vessel daily returns are in line with expectations and to highlight unusual changes in the daily values given. Accurate recording of vessel performance in systems is essential to this process. The Candidate: Confident and self-motivated, your excellent interpersonal and communication skills mean you'll be able to liaise effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders. You'll also have a thorough understanding of all contractual, license and regulatory obligations in the markets in which they operate. Knowledge and experience of freight operations is preferred Maritime Business degree and/or tanker sailing experience are preferred. This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
