Youth Support Worker Location: Harrow Salary: £10.00/hour Job Type: Full-time Flexible hours to full time contracts available They can be flexible but sleep ins will be required and evenings and weekends Our client currently offer a fantastic opportunity for an experienced support worker to work for a rapidly expanding company who specialise in young people's services, dedicated to improving the lives of young people leaving care. About the Youth Support Worker role: Working as the sole member of staff on shift in a young person’s semi-independent unit, you will be responsible for the safeguarding of young people aged 16 to 21 within the service whilst adhering to current policies and procedures. You must therefore be confident and authoritative and have experience working with this age group, therefore this role may suit a mature candidate who is able to command the respect of the young people and ensure suitable behaviour is maintained within the home. You will also need to develop and maintain relationships with the young people, acting as a mentor and advisor and someone they can trust and rely on as they make the transition into adulthood and full independence from the care system. Requirements of the Youth Support Worker: This will be a challenging yet rewarding role where you will need to work under pressure and develop great relationships. Candidates should have: Young Persons Workforce level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care To have a flexible work approach and to work shifts and to undertake duties in the evenings, weekends and sleep ins as and when required Experience within Social Care and youth work is compulsory Must have sound knowledge and understanding of current regulations Excellent presentation and communication skills Have authority, confidence and experience dealing with 16 to 21 year olds who may have challenging behaviour. Currently valid clean DBS Qualifications needed for this Youth Support Worker role: NVQ II/III in Health and Social Care, Certificate/Degree/HND Youth Work, Any other qualifications directed to work with Young People ( If you have Level 2 and willing to work towards Level 3) Safeguarding certificate, but you would also be required to do Safeguarding Level 1 and 2 as mandatory training before taking up the post. Basic First Aid Certificate Skills and Abilities required for this Youth Support Worker role: Direct work with young people who are looked after, at risk or in challenging circumstances Work with Looked After Children and Leaving Care Working with young people and achieving positive outcomes Report writing and keeping clear up to date concise records Good I.T skills and can use word and email efficiently and aware of online safety To work alone and as part of a team Manage your own time effectively ensuring each young person on your case load has the allocated time spent with them An ability to form, develop and sustain relationships with young people Ability to work in partnership and communicate with a wide range of organisations To participate in Supervision, further training and developing the Service To be positive and enthusiastic to enable young people to reach their potential The ability to monitor, plan and work to deadlines To undertake On Call duties on a rota basis If you feel you meet the above criteria of this Youth Support Worker role then please apply now This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89698010
