YOS (Youth Offending Service) Nurse, Band 7 Bexley Youth Offending Service and CAMHS Maternity Cover Full time - 37.5 hours per week Based with YOS team in the London Borough of Bexley, at the Civic Centre, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath, CAMHS Park Crescent, Erith DA8 3EE and throughout the borough as required An exciting opportunity has arisen following a review to appoint an able, enthusiastic and experienced registered nurse to provide a timely highly specialist health and mental health screening assessment and intervention for every young people with a range of vulnerabilities within Bexley Youth Offending Service (YOS). This role is suitable for nurses with experience of working with children and young people with physical and mental health needs. The role requires you to function autonomously, whilst being a support and resource to less experienced members of staff from the partner agencies within the YOS. You must be a good team worker and be able to and managing a caseload of young people, ensuring safe and effective clinical practices in different locations, if required. You must be able to assess clients, arrange follow ups, whilst offering advice and information. You must be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills in clinical decision making. You will be required to have the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-professional team within a fast paced environment, in line with local and national policy and processes. You will also provide specialist advice and support to professional colleagues both internal and external to the YOS and Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. The role may include the clinical supervision of nurses within the team. The post holder will be a qualified nurse with RN mental health, children's or general qualification (including school nursing), registered with the NMC with post registration experience within a children and young people's service, an emotional health (CAMHS) environment and community setting. You will need to have excellent therapeutic skills and be responsive and flexible in your approach to working with young people. Bexley CAMHS is a friendly, busy and thriving CYP IAPT service, regarded as an accessible and effective service. Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust provides mental health, learning disabilities and community services to the London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich. The Trust has recently been rated as Good by the CQC and has a culture of supporting staff whilst providing excellent services within a robust clinical governance framework. The Bexley Youth Offending Service is currently working with young people subject to statutory court orders and youth cautions. Young people are usually in contact with the YOS for between 3 months - 3 years, depending on their disposal. Bexley Youth Offending Service (YOS) forms part of the overall local service provided to children and families. The service is modelled on the original YOS model set out in the 1998 Crime and Disorder Act in that it delivers pre and post court services, in collaboration with other statutory and non-statutory agencies.
