Overview
Streets of Growth is seeking to employ an experienced and entrepreneurial individual as a Youth Intervention Coach on a full-time basis who has a strong track record of working with young people (15-25 years) and their families. Streets of Growth is an outcome driven charity, working to reduce harm and positively transform the lives of the most vulnerable and at-risk young people and their families in Tower Hamlets East London. We do not wait for the young people to walk through our doors, or to be referred by an agency, instead we engage and reach out to young people across the streets and neighbourhoods. Working to build a relationship of trust, truth and transformation with each young person, coaching and enabling them to support themselves to change negative lifestyles, move away from violence and harm, stay out of prison, get good jobs, and create a better future for themselves. The successful candidate will be skilled in engaging, assessing and delivering interventions designed to support young people to build personal resilience and move away from harm and violence. Plus, the successful candidate will possess sound risk assessment skills and safeguarding knowledge. A key component of the job role is, case management and good practice models, which underpin Streets of Growth practice. Roles and duties: Implementation of Streets of Growth’s Appropriate Intervention Model (AIM) via Bridging programme, across the areas of Lifestyle, Enterprise/Employ-ability, Education and Engaging Institutions. Working on a case management basis with a caseload of referred and street engaged young people. Working in partnership with families and other key people in a young persons’ life to build a strong network for positive change and progression for each young person and their family. Working with the frontline team to deliver targeted street work to engage and build up relationships of trust with high risk and vulnerable young people (15-25 years) in the estates and youth crime hotspot areas across Tower Hamlets. To work to and meet set progression targets within agreed time-lines and deadlines based on the needs of the young people and their families on your caseload. Qualifications and Skills Three years or more frontline experience of working with young people in one of the following areas, youth work, targeted youth work (such as gang intervention, county lines) family intervention, social work, youth justice, probation, education or health. A professional qualification in one of the following areas: youth and community work, social work, probation, family intervention, health, education OR relevant degree and experience of working with children, young people and families. Experience of providing high quality coaching support and knowledge of approaches including those relating to coaching and emotional intelligence that ensure young people and their families can develop the resilient skills needed to move out of crime, violence, harm and poverty. Good IT skills and ability to use Microsoft packages and previous experience of inputting data on CRM system. Desirable is the experience and or a good understanding of the needs and challenges facing young people and communities of Tower Hamlets and East London. Contract: Initial One-Year fixed term contract with the potential to be made PERMANENT dependent on progression achievements and funding. Full time 37 hours per week (however, part time applicants will be considered). Evening and weekend working will be required but will be reflected in workload and working hours. Benefits 20 days annual leave bank holidays.
