Technical Buyer
Overview
Technical Buyer We are looking for an engineer by background (someone who can read technical drawings ). Our products are complex so it needs to be someone who can understand this. They should have had exposure to suppliers/done some Purchasing in the role. They could also come from an Inside sales role (as they will be used to understanding technical products), quotes etc. Ideally you will have come from an Engineer background / environment and have an electrical bias Role Summary: As part of a multi-disciplined team, this role involves working closely with the engineering team on project based procurement, ensuring timely delivery of material within a fast moving high pressure environment.The Technical Buyer is fully responsible for the supply chain management of the vendors Objectives and Responsibilities: Managing and developing supplier relationships Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies across the major technical categories Identify and deliver further opportunities to reduce overall supply chain costs Ensure quality, service level, price and supply logistics meet commercial and internal customers’ needs Work closely with Engineering to ensure material is delivered accurately and on time Attend regular project/production meetings and report material status to project team. Primary Task List Sourcing, Placing Orders, Expediting, Forecasting Quotations, Benchmarking, Negotiations Supplier Visits, Qualification, Auditing RMA, Non-Conformance Reporting Secondary Task List Other purchasing duties where applicable Qualifications and Experience: HNC / HND / degree level (or equivalent) Microsoft office capable (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Experience of working with a portfolio of suppliers within an engineering based purchasing role Desirable SAP experience Essential Skills: Accurate, thorough and consistent Good communication skills Good interpersonal skills Team player Able to work in a fast pace pressure environment Able to integrate into international team of experts Working Conditions / Environment: You will adopt the working practices of a modern engineering office and a company-wide quality system Occasional travel required mostly within the UK
