Overview
Dunchurch Pools is a new canal boat marina set in the Warwickshire countryside near Rugby. It has been designed by the architects responsible for the Eden Project and the landscape architect responsible for many of the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust’s nature reserves. Our objective is to be the best inland marina in the United Kingdom, providing an exceptional customer experience along with significant benefits to the local community and environment. We are seeking an outstanding person to join our small dedicated team and grow with the business. The role is customer facing and is responsible for the delivery of the marina’s services to berth holders and visitors. The role also includes marketing, finance and office administration duties to support and develop these services. Whilst excellent interpersonal, presentational and administrative skills are essential, no previous experience of marinas is required as full training to transfer your existing skills will be provided. Work in any one week is highly varied and interesting, covering the marina’s four areas of business; berths, fuel & chandlery, brokerage and boatyard. It ranges, for example, from co-ordinating arrivals and departures of boats; serving visitors with diesel at the service dock; conducting viewings of brokerage boats; raising invoices for the boatyard; organising a customer event such as the summer BBQ for 175 people; to writing material for the website and social media. The successful candidate will be a people person, with strong communication skills, highly literate and numerate, self-motivated and able to efficiently deliver varied tasks independently. They will demonstrate attention to detail and a wish to deliver the highest quality in everything they do. It is likely that they will have had considerable experience of the work place but this need not be recent experience. Driving licence and personal transport will also be required. The Assistant Marina Manager role will be shared between two people across the working week. It is anticipated that the individual will work 21 hours (3 days) per week and that overtime will be offered to cover such things as events and holidays. Some flexibility exists to pre agree which days will be worked and at times around accommodating family commitments, for example during children’s holidays. The opportunity to increase these hours may also be offered in the future. Interested parties should forward their CV to Joe Oliver with a covering letter highlighting their suitability for the role.
